Highland Prep West scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Arete Prep CHARGERS 39-35. The loss leaves the HORNETS without a win on the season.

When it comes to explaining why Highland Prep West lost, don't look at Makayla Sison. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points and three steals. That was a full 37.1% of Highland Prep West's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Maya Frias was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Arete Prep found their leader in sophomore Livia Emery, who put up 21 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Emery has scored all season.

Highland Prep West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Arete Prep, they pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
