Basketball Game Preview: Ahoskie Christian vs. Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners

Two dominant guards in Mara Dae White and Lily Mathews are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Ahoskie Christian will head out to take on the Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ahoskie Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Ahoskie Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 29-25 to Terra Ceia Christian. While losing is never fun, Ahoskie Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Terra Ceia Christian is ranked 236th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kaylee Jones, who posted five points along with ten boards and three blocks. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Kinsley Dunlow was another key player, putting up five points along with ten boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Ahoskie Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Pamlico Christian Academy humbled Unity Christian Academy with a 60-15 victory. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Pamlico Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Ahoskie Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Ahoskie Christian suffered a grim 52-30 defeat to Pamlico Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can Ahoskie Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
