The Jefferson West Tigers will face off against the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Jefferson West came out on top against Sabetha on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Tigers took their matchup against the Bluejays 9-5.

Harriet Dean made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 3rd. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Jefferson West got a big performance out of Ryleigh Zitek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Emmie Dean was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Hiawatha hit Perry-Lecompton with a five-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Kaws took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Hawks.
Paxton Damme was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Macie Corcoran, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one double.
Perry-Lecompton's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-12. As for Jefferson West, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Jefferson West's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Perry-Lecompton, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jefferson West continue to outrun the ball?
Jefferson West suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Perry-Lecompton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
