After flying high against the Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders last Monday, the Ravenswood Red Devils came back down to earth. Ravenswood fell 52-41 to the Vikings on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ravenswood in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Ravenswood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hadleigh McGoskey. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points. That was a full 63.4% of Ravenswood's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Wratchford, who scored nine points.
Ripley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Ryan, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Ryan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Nichols, who scored 20 points.
Ravenswood's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Ripley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Ravenswood will square off against the Redskins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Hopefully Hurricane focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Ripley, they will be playing at home against the Big Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
