Football Recap: Charles Page Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Charles Page had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 52 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Ponca City Wildcats with a sharp 29-7 victory. With the Sandites ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Charles Page got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chaves Williams out in front who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries. Those 124 rushing yards gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Webb, who threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Charles Page was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 59.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 181.7.

Charles Page didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Junior Ballard and Tre Pope. Pope is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Charles Page's record now sits at 4-2. As for Ponca City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Charles Page will take on Putnam City West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sandites will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ponca City, they will face off against Sapulpa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Chieftains have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
