It was a good run, but The Florence Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Alamosa by a score of 27-25. Florence was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Alamosa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Florence still got an impressive performance from Luguse Nuss, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Nuss was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Tanner Wrast, who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Dyson Woodward looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Alamosa also got a significant boost from Karter Tolsma, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.
Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Alamosa, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will take on La Junta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Junta is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Alamosa, they will be playing at home against Woodland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
