After a string of three wins, the Mainland Buccaneers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 78-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Potter's House Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (63), Mainland still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Mainland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nathan Kirk. Despite the final result, he scored 36 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kirk has scored all season. Kade Manley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Mainland's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Potter's House Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Mainland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pine Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Pine Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests. As for Potter's House Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Duval Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
