Maryvale lost to Mountain Pointe 71-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Valley Vista made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,110 from 2,354. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-6 victory over North Canyon last week.
North's dynamic duo of Frank Gomez and Johnny Cortez proved tough for San Luis to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gomez threw for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns and Cortez had 156 yards receiving.
The Mustangs' dynamic duo of Gomez and Cortez proved to be unstoppable against the Sidewinders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Roberto Roman was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Monsoon defeated the Rattlers. The 6-foot-5 senior.
Izel Robinson was the most successful running back in I Section II this week. He ran for 127 yards on 23 carries as Valley Vista beat San Luis. Teammate Robert Bolden added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Cortez was the best receiver in the league this week as Bob Chappelle's team topped Doug Thompson's team.
Gomez put up the best numbers in passing as the Mustangs beat the Sidewinders.
6-foot-3 quarterback Damian Alarcon of Josh Sekoch's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 511. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cortez. The North star has 11 catches for 302 yards.
North led the league in scoring this week by notching 67 points on San Luis. Gomez ran for 10 yards during the win.
