Horizon Honors is 6-1 against Veritas Prep since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Horizon Honors Eagles face off against Veritas Prep Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Horizon Honors is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Horizon Honors is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since March 1, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Chandler Prep 7-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Aidan Andrews was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
Andrews wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Walker, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was Walker's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Veritas Prep). They blew past Fountain Hills 13-3 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Veritas Prep needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Like Horizon Honors, Veritas Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Cade Huseth. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Huseth has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Logan Cortes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Baylor Arnold, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Veritas Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win got Veritas Prep back to even at 3-3. As for Horizon Honors, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.
Veritas Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Horizon Honors has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Veritas Prep, though, as they've only averaged .365. Will they be able to contain Horizon Honors' hitters?
Horizon Honors took their win against Veritas Prep in their previous meeting back in March of 2020 by a conclusive 11-1. Will Horizon Honors repeat their success, or does Veritas Prep has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
