Softball Recap: Port Allen Wins Going Away Against East Iberville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rapides, Port Allen was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the East Iberville Tigers as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The Pelicans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Olivia Rodney made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Saizon, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Marsha Shirley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.

Port Allen's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for East Iberville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Allen will host White Castle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Iberville, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against West St. John at 3:30 p.m.
