Lafayette is 0-3 against Notre Dame since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lafayette Lions will take on the Notre Dame Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Lafayette beats Notre Dame with 19 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Lafayette didn't even let Westgate on the board on Monday, marking Lafayette's second-straight 19-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on four straight.
Lauren Williams looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024.

Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Beau Chene.
Madaline Johnson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Malayna Daigle was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Lillian Guidry was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Lafayette's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their record is now 1-0.
Lafayette suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Lafayette avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
