The Calexico Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets, and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went Calexico's way against the Yellow Jackets as the Bulldogs made off with a 61-37 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Calexico.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calexico to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dany Carreon, who scored 13 points. Michael Duffy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Loss or not, Palo Verde Valley got some senior leadership from Rudy Armstrong and Ezekiel Gibson. Armstrong dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Gibson. scored six points along with 17 rebounds and six blocks. Armstrong has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasias Green, who scored seven points.
Calexico's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Palo Verde Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Calexico's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Averaging 54.36 points so far this season, Imperial's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Bulldogs better be ready for a challenge. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
