Meanwhile, Wauconda came into Saturday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past Belvidere 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 14, 2024.
Georgia Reimers was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Reimers wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Maxwell, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Richmond-Burton's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Wauconda, their win bumped their record up to 5-18.
Wauconda's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Richmond-Burton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Wauconda, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Richmond-Burton keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
