The IMG Academy Blue Ascenders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell 65-54 to Booker. While losing is never fun, IMG Academy Blue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 101st).
Leading Booker to victory were Jsiyah Taylor and Jakai Peterson. Taylor scored 18 points, while Peterson scored 24 points. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times she's played. Yvette Brown was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
IMG Academy Blue dropped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Booker, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.
IMG Academy Blue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Booker will head out on the road to challenge the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Southeast has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Tornadoes will arrive with three straight wins.
