Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hammond Bishop Noll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khalel Johnson, who posted 18 points. Maddux Laurincik was another key player, putting up 16 points.
Meanwhile, East Chicago Central played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 101-58 defeat at the hands of Cathedral. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-30.
Hammond Bishop Noll will have to contain Dominique Murphy as he made an impact in East Chicago Central's last game. He went 11-for-22 to rack up 29 points and eight rebounds. Murphy's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Watkins, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points.
Hammond Bishop Noll pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for East Chicago Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Johnson and Murphy. Johnson has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 16.6 points. For his part, Murphy has averaged 22.2 points, 8.3 boards, and 1.1 steals on 50.7% shooting.
