The Phillips Loggers are taking a road trip to take on the Spring Valley Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Phillips' victory against Glenwood City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Loggers skirted past the Hilltoppers 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Loggers.
Phillips wouldn't go down easily and took Glenwood City into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, 20-25, 20-18.

Phillips can attribute much of their success to Chloe Esterholm, who had seven digs and two aces, and Annaka Tobias, who had 23 kills, 19 digs, and three aces. Tobias is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 14 games she's played.
They weren't the only good servers: Phillips was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley got the win against Glenwood City on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now won three in a row.
Spring Valley never let Glenwood City on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-19, 25-22.
Spring Valley found their leader in freshman Kemri Schlegel, who had 18 digs.
Phillips' record is now 16-17. As for Spring Valley, their record now sits at 19-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Phillips has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Spring Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 aces.
