If the Athol Bears were feeling good off their 32-12 takedown of the Mount Everett Regional Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Athol was dealt a 66-23 defeat at the hands of Pioneer Valley Regional on Thursday. Athol has struggled against Pioneer Valley Regional recently, as their match on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, Athol got some senior leadership from Jenna Bonenfant and Anna Duquette. Bonenfant scored 11 points along with four blocks, while Duquette. scored five points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily King, who scored three points along with four blocks and two steals.
Athol's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Pioneer Valley Regional, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Athol does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pioneer Valley Regional also has no future games currently scheduled.
