Even though Academy of Science and Innovation has not done well against Parish Hill recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Academy of Science and Innovation walked away with a 51-39 win over Parish Hill. The win made it back-to-back wins for Academy of Science and Innovation.
Academy of Science and Innovation's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maiara Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 steals. Rodriguez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Symber Ortiz-Sutton, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Weaver's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 56-36 loss at the hands of Suffield. While losing is never fun, Weaver can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Suffield is ranked 28th).
Academy of Science and Innovation pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Weaver, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Academy of Science and Innovation came up short against Weaver in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 31-22. Can Academy of Science and Innovation avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
