The Stuart W. Cramer Storm will venture away from home to face off against the Sun Valley Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Stuart W. Cramer fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against East Lincoln on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Storm's first of the season.
Stuart W. Cramer got a good showing from Mason Price, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Stuart W. Cramer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aydan Bradley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Sun Valley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Palisades 20-10.
Keller Weaver looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Robert Jackson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Kyle Kroehler, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Sun Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisades only posted an OBP of .424.
Sun Valley pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stuart W. Cramer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sun Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
