The David City Scouts will square off against the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
David City is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Humphrey-Lindsay: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Scouts blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 78-30 final score. The victory was nothing new for the Scouts as they're now sitting on four straight.

David City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daren Vodicka led the charge by rushing for 129 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Vodicka a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Kuhlman, who rushed for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: David City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
David City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Fabian Caceres Aguilar, Xavier Boss, and Judd Nickolite picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Clarkson/Leigh against Newman Grove/St. Edward on Friday as the squad secured a 66-18 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-18.
Clarkson/Leigh had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Crosley rushed for 161 yards and four scores on only eight carries and Tucker Matthies gained 166 total yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Crosley is now averaging an impressive 105.4 rushing yards per game. Corey Steffensmeier got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
David City's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. David City has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 259.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clarkson/Leigh struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 319.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for David City against Clarkson/Leigh when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-20 win. In that matchup, the Scouts amassed a halftime lead of 42-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
