Baseball Recap: Higley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Higley waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Denver South Ravens a 10-0 shutout. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Higley got a great performance from Niko Lekousis as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Lekousis a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Joslyn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 matchups. Anthony Marchisio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Higley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Higley's record is now 7-5. As for Denver South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Higley will be playing in front of their home fans against Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
