Simla and Peyton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Simla Cubs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Peyton Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Simla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66 points per game this season.
Peyton is hoping to do what Yuma couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Simla's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Simla came out on top against Yuma by a score of 48-41. The 48-point effort marked the Cubs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Simla's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Maranville, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Maranville a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carlee Cox, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 18 points.
Simla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Peyton fought the good fight in their overtime game against St. Mary's Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Wildcats 43-39.
Simla will have to contain Maysn Gregg as she made an impact in Peyton's last game. She posted 13 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammie Nickell, who had three points in addition to 12 rebounds and three steals.
Peyton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Simla, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Simla hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66 points per game. It's a different story for Peyton, though, as they've been averaging only 35.1 points. The only thing between Simla and another offensive beatdown is Peyton. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Simla might still be hurting after the 51-30 defeat they got from Peyton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Simla, AJ Mannering (who went 13 of 23 on her way to 35 points along with six steals and five boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
