The Garber Dukes are taking a road trip to take on the Clio Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Garber got the win against Lakeville by a conclusive 8-1. The victory continues a trend for the Dukes in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Sadie Lapan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kokaly, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, while Clio put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Birch Run. The Mustangs blew past the Panthers 15-0.
Addie Taylor made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Taylor was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ashlyn LaFreniere and Veronica Tate did most of the damage at the plate: LaFreniere went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Tate went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI LaFreniere has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Summer Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
Garber's record now sits at 30-7. As for Clio, their record is now 19-2.
Garber's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Dukes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Clio, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Garber continue to outrun the ball?
Garber couldn't quite get it done against Clio when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 8-3. Can the Dukes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
