The Southern Alamance Patriots struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Western Alamance Warriors had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southern Alamance was outmatched by Western Alamance at home and fell 79-38. While losing is never fun, Southern Alamance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Western Alamance is ranked 69th).
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Isley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Isley is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Sunny Yarnell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Western Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allie Sykes, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Tina Bowers, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Southern Alamance and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Western Alamance, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Alamance will take on Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Williams is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Western Alamance, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orange at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Orange focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
