The Centerville Bulldogs will take on the Knightstown Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Centerville humbled Union City with a 63-7 victory. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won six in a row.
Centerville found their leader in sophomore Jace Hollendonner, who threw for 241 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Mull, who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.
Centerville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, Knightstown entered their game against Northeastern on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers had to suffer through a 61-33 loss at the hands of the Knights. The Panthers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Centerville will have to contain Jameson Crawford as he made an impact in Knightstown's last game. He rushed for 221 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Crawford is now averaging an impressive 104.2 rushing yards per game. Brody Willard also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.
Knightstown's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Centerville, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Centerville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 366.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Knightstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 366.2 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Centerville against Knightstown in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-7 victory. In that matchup, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 38-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
