The Forbush Falcons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 51.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Lexington, posting a 70-20 victory on the road. Given Forbush's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Lexington is ranked 435th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forbush was led to victory by Natalie Scott and Morgan Pinnix. Scott scored 19 points, while Pinnix scored 19 points. The game was Scott's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Eads, who scored 12 points.
Despite the defeat, Lexington had strong showings from Tay Bostic, who scored 7 points, and Jordyn Dearmon, who scored 7 points. Dearmon scored a full 35% of Lexington's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Forbush's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lexington, they have yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 2-6 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forbush will face off against Elkin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkin is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Lexington, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central Davidson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
