While Eastside put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Thomas Walker. The Spartans blew past the Pioneers 14-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Braelyn Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other pitching news, Zoe Sartin looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, Haley Day was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Clay, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Eastside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eastside pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Thomas Walker, they are on a 30-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
Looking ahead, Thomas Walker will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hurley at 4:00 p.m. The Pioneers are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Eastside will be paying especially close attention to Thomas Walker's match: after Thomas Walker faces off against Hurley, they'll take on Eastside again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
