The Smith Academy Fighting 54th will head out on the road to face off against the Clinton Christian Couriers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 15 points in their last match, Smith Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Pierceton Woods Academy on Wednesday. Smith Academy took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-20 win over Pierceton Woods Academy. The win was some much needed relief for Smith Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Clinton Christian narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Non Varsity Opponent 38-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clinton Christian.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Lower, who scored 14 points. Anthony Snyder was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Smith Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clinton Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Smith Academy took their win against Clinton Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 62-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smith Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
