The Monroe City Panthers pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Van-Far by a score of 68-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Monroe City has suffered yet this season.
Nikos Connaway was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven steals and six assists for Van-Far. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Connaway has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carter Jennings, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Monroe City's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Van-Far, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Monroe City will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Van-Far will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Silex at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Silex will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while Van-Far is ranked 207th).
