Mesa Verde is 0-3 against the Knights since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mesa Verde Mavericks just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Rio Linda Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Mesa Verde is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Monday, Mesa Verde beat the Capitals 55-43. Mesa Verde pushed the score to 43-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Capitals cut but never quite recovered from.
Mesa Verde's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mathew Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Garcia also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Jorgensen, who scored ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rio Linda blew past the Wolves, posting a 85-36 win on the road.
Mesa Verde's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-21. As for Rio Linda, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-16 record this season.
Mesa Verde was taken down by the Knights 66-34 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Mesa Verde avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
