The Hunter Wolverines lost against the Cyprus Pirates back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Hunter fell to Cyprus 47-43.
Despite the loss, Hunter still got an impressive performance from Kalysa Ng, who scored 27 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ng has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Gallagher, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks.
Even though they lost, Hunter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Cyprus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tamila Francis, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Francis hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Calee Sharp was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Hunter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Cyprus, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunter will face off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Granger is on a five-game streak of home losses, Hunter a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Cyprus, they will head out on the road to challenge Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Taylorsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday.
