The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lyons, who took down 134th ranked Lyons, 26-14. Tevin Lucas ran for nine yards and caught four passes for 99 yards in the win.
Tate Kastens and Simon Becker provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Estes Park. The longest such play in 1A Metro this season, the connection resulted in 59 yards.
Denver Christian's dynamic duo of Kastens and Jacob Monsma proved tough for the Bobcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kastens threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns and Monsma had 108 yards receiving. Forrest Sanderson helped Denver Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 33 yards.
Hunter Bode was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 170 yards on 14 carries as Platte Canyon topped Estes Park. Jake Robl also contributed to the rushing game with 132 yards on the ground.
Demetrius Lujan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Denver Christian bested Brian Lund's team. The 5-foot-9 sophomore recorded one fumble and racked up two sacks.
6-foot-4 quarterback Kastens of Troy Vanden Broeke's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 403. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Huskies' Bode has rushed for 712 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lucas. The Clear Creek star has 14 catches for 259 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Metro this week will be when Platte Canyon takes on the Bobcats. As it stands, the Huskies are in first, while Estes Park is in sixth.
Platte Canyon's Hank Bode recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Nederland last week. Bode scampered for 56 yards on the play and finished with 63 on the day as his team defeated the Panthers.
