The Morgan Trojans will square off against the Roy Royals at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Morgan took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Kearns as Morgan made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Camron Talbot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Luke Bauerle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Lincoln Gilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Morgan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roy). They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over West on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.
Roy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Morgan beat Roy 11-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Morgan repeat their success, or does Roy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
