AAAAAA Region 6 recap October 22, 2013
Alpharetta added to the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 6 this week by beating Chattahoochee, 34-17. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
West Forsyth took down North Forsyth 28-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. HAMPTON MCCONNELL threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 40 yards during the win.
MCCONNELL was a passing and rushing force as the Wolverines beat the Raiders. MCCONNELL's key target this week was NATHAN SCHMITZ, who caught 2 passes for 87 yards.
Austin King threw for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 15-21 with 0 interceptions.
Walton Simmons made the biggest impact on defense this week as Johns Creek lost to Lambert. He recorded 1 fumble.
Caden Herring was the best wideout in the league this week as Centennial lost to South Forsyth. Herring tallied 9 receptions for 135 yards. James Kelly helped Centennial's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 64 yards.
Alpharetta's King and Daniel Clements have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. King has thrown for 1,366 yards this season, while Clements has 42 catches for 697 yards. TREVOR O'BRIEN from West Forsyth leads the league in rushing with 642 yards.
One of AAAAAA Region 6's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Jason Dukes' team and the Longhorns face off next week.
At the moment, the Raiders are in third, while Lambert is in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Alpharetta takes on Sid Maxwell's team. The Raiders have allowed 118 points this season, while the Longhorns have given up 119. Alpharetta allowed 17 points last week as it topped the Cougars.
