Davidson Day (Davidson, N.C.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Will Grier thew a touchdown to
Glen Coates with with 6:00 left in the first quarter, bringing the team to victory over Metrolina Christian Academy (Indian Trail, N.C.) 68-28.
Davidson Day was up 40-21 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Grier to Coates in the first quarter.
DD expanded its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. The Davidson school scored three times in the third, including once on a Grier touchdown run.
Grier was one of the big reasons Davidson Day got the victory, as he threw eight touchdowns.
DD's standout player in the win was Grier. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown. A member of the Class of 2014 Top 100 Watch List, Grier has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
The Warriors came in allowing just 17.0 points per game this season. Metrolina Christian Academy struggled against Davidson Day, which came in averaging 41.0 points per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for DD, which lost to Charlotte Country Day last week, 56-15.
Metrolina Christian Academy (4-3) will play a NCISAA Freelance game against Trinity Christian next week, while Davidson Day (6-2) will take on Charlotte Latin in a non-conference game.
