Foothill is 8-2 against Bonanza since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Foothill Falcons will welcome the Bonanza Bengals at 3:30 p.m. Bonanza took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Foothill, who comes in off a win.
Foothill took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Desert Oasis by a score of 7-4.
Tyler Straily was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had over his last three games. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Angelo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Szymarek, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bonanza didn't have quite enough to beat Legacy on Thursday and fell 4-3. The Bengals haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Darren McGee and Deegan Polson stepped up to the plate in a big way. McGee scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Polson scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Foothill's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Bonanza, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything went Foothill's way against Bonanza in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Foothill made off with a 10-4 win. Does Foothill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bonanza turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
