Fossil Ridge and Byron Nelson are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Fossil Ridge Panthers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Byron Nelson Bobcat at 5:45 p.m. Fossil Ridge will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, Fossil Ridge lost to Southlake Carroll on the road by a decisive 56-41 margin. While losing is never fun, Fossil Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Southlake Carroll is ranked 20th).
Meanwhile, Byron Nelson had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 51-46 win over V.R. Eaton on Friday. The victory was just what Byron Nelson needed coming off of a 55-30 defeat in their prior game.
Byron Nelson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Belle Ratliff, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Moss, who scored 12 points.
Fossil Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season. As for Byron Nelson, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-20.
Everything went Fossil Ridge's way against Byron Nelson in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Fossil Ridge made off with a 61-41 win. Will Fossil Ridge repeat their success, or does Byron Nelson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
