Baseball Recap: Oneida Victorious

Oneida's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oakdale Eagles, sneaking past 15-13. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Caden Shoemaker was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Hutcherson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Oneida always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Oneida back to even at 4-4. As for Oakdale, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Oneida will face off against Wartburg Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oakdale, they are taking a road trip to challenge Midway at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
