The Leander Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Lehman Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leander's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lehman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Leander is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-3 margin over Cedar Park on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Leander got a great performance from Scarlett Geurin as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, Geurin gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in January.
At the plate, Madelyn Lee was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Allen, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3.
Leander always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Lehman was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glenn. The Lobos have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.
Lehman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlin Uptmore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That hit was Uptmore's first of the season.
Leander pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lehman, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-6-1.
Everything went Leander's way against Lehman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Leander made off with a 17-5 win. Will Leander repeat their success, or does Lehman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
