The Oxford Yellow Jackets will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Gadsden City Titans at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Oxford will be strutting in after a victory while the Titans will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Oxford didn't have too much trouble with the Wildcats on the road as they won 55-40. The win was just what Oxford needed coming off of a 66-38 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oxford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xaionna Whitfield, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Gadsden City's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Briarwood Christian 45-41.
Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season. As for Gadsden City, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
Oxford couldn't quite finish off the Titans in their previous matchup last Friday and fell 34-31. Can Oxford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
