1A Region 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
French Camp Academy extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 2 this week by beating Coffeeville, 46-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
St. Joseph took down Brooks 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Raines Rester threw for 113 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 48 yards in the win.
French Camp Academy's dynamic duo of Jesse Hosket and Lovondra Carter proved tough for the Pirates to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hosket threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns and Carter had 67 yards receiving. Hagan Box helped French Camp Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 31 yards.
Cedric Commons provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Durant topped Montgomery County. He completed three passes for 49 yards and also ran for 165 yards. Commons' favorite target this week was Jordan Ellis, who caught two passes for 33 yards.
Joshua Tyler made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers lost to the Fighting Irish. The junior grabbed one interception.
Shaw's Andre Pruitt and Octavius Stimmage have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pruitt has thrown for 754 yards this season, while Stimmage, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has nine catches for 295 yards. Jaylon Clemons from Nathan Wright's team leads the league in rushing with 822 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when St. Joseph takes on Coffeeville. At the moment, John Baker's team is in third, while Jamaal Jackson's team is in fourth.
The Panthers led 1A Region 2 in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on the Pirates. Hosket ran for 37 yards in the win.
