Cary is 2-8 against Apex since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cary Imps will take on the Apex Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cary's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Panther Creek 7-0. The Imps not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024.
Will Vetter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Logan Joyce looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Apex waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Gators by a score of 5-2.
Apex also got a great performance from DANE PURDY as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on KYLE HULSE, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. ADRIAN GONZALEZ also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Apex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Apex now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Cary, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cary has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Apex struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cary came up short against Apex when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 9-4. Can Cary avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
