Basketball Recap: Alexander Hart's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Covenant Christian over Millersburg

On Monday, the New Covenant Christian Flames were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-52 to the Millersburg Indians. The Flames have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Flames players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexander Hart, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Talan VanderPloog was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millersburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nolan Schreffler, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Romberger, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

New Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-5. As for Millersburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

New Covenant Christian will face off against Christian School of York at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Covenant Christian is facing Christian School of York at the right time seeing as Christian School of York is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Millersburg, they will challenge Susquenita at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Susquenita will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Millersburg surely won't give up without a fight.
