Basketball Recap: Jenkintown's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Jenkintown had lost 13 straight headed into Saturday's match, but Judah Jackson didn't let it get to 14. The Jenkintown Drakes snuck past the Lehigh Valley Academy Jaguars with a 49-43 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Jackson, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Lehigh Valley Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anders Heiney posted 16 points. That was a full 37.2% of Lehigh Valley Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Azcuidiaz, who put up nine points.

Jenkintown's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-15. As for Lehigh Valley Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Jenkintown will be playing at home against Plumstead Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Jenkintown has lost seven straight at home (dating back to last season), while Plumstead Christian has lost six on the road. As for Lehigh Valley Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-31 victory against Upper Bucks Christian on the 27th.
