Mesilla Valley Christian School barely beat Capitan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The SonBlazers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 24-0 shutout on Tuesday. The SonBlazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Jeremiah Sullivan made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mesilla Valley Christian School got a massive performance out of Zach Beasley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Beasley has posted since back in May of 2024. Kobe Redfearn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
Mesilla Valley Christian School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mescalero Apache came up short against Lordsburg on Tuesday and fell 9-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Chiefs in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost three in a row.
Nick Yuzos stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Duffy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Mesilla Valley Christian School pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mescalero Apache, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Mescalero Apache's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mesilla Valley Christian School has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Mescalero Apache, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Mesilla Valley Christian School's sizable advantage in that area, the Chiefs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mesilla Valley Christian School took their victory against Mescalero Apache when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will the SonBlazers repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
