It was a good run, but the Oakhaven Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Hillcrest by a score of 90-87. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (67), Oakhaven still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Oakhaven still got an impressive performance from Jertavien Williams, who scored 42 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Amari Spates was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Xavier Herron was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 46 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 steals for Hillcrest. Herron hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Oakhaven's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Hillcrest, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakhaven will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hillcrest will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Memphis School of Excellence Winchester at 12:00 p.m. on January 25th. Memphis School of Excellence Winchester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Hillcrest is ranked 138th).
