After two games on the road, Apex is heading back home. They will take on the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Apex came up short against Leesville Road and fell 47-40. Apex has not had much luck with Leesville Road recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, Apex got some senior leadership from Analiza Whittlesey who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds and Destiny Richardson who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Whittlesey scored a full 30% of Apex's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Pease, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina lost to Green Level on the road by a decisive 46-32 margin last Tuesday.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 1-1 season records intact.
Everything went Apex's way against Fuquay - Varina when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Apex made off with a 44-23 win. Will Apex repeat their success, or does Fuquay - Varina have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
