The West Elk Patriots had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 65-18 win over Oswego. That's another feather in the cap for West Elk, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Elk to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kodi Harshman, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaila Gillespie, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
West Elk's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Oswego, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Elk will square off against Neodesha at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oswego, they will head out on the road to face off against Chetopa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
