Alliance has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sidney Red Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alliance beat Lexington 57-53. The win was just what Alliance needed coming off of a 65-44 loss in their prior contest.
Alliance's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Espen Lanik, who scored 21 points. Seth Meyring was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Alliance's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Jonah Amill got a bit more time on the court (22 vs. his season average of 10.1). Amill made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, Sidney entered their tilt with Chadron with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Sidney secured a 46-40 W over Chadron on Friday. Given Sidney's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Chadron is ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alliance's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Sidney, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Alliance took a serious blow against Sidney in their previous matchup back in January, falling 72-41. Will Alliance have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
