Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Hillsboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 67-63 W over the Altamont Indians. The win was nothing new for the Hiltoppers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hillsboro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Matoush out in front who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Matoush's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tony White, who went 6 of 13 en route to 22 points.

When it comes to explaining why Altamont lost, don't look at Kade Milleville. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 17 on his way to 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Milleville is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaine Miller, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Altamont, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hillsboro will head out to take on Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Altamont, they will face off against Dieterich at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
